Yesterday, November 4, the General Office of the State Council announced public holiday calendar for 2026. According to the Public Holiday Schedule Notice, next year, the Chinese workforce will enjoy a total of 13 days off including the extra long Spring Festival holiday.
China Public Holiday Calendar 2026
New Year 元旦: January 1-3, 2026. Adjusted workday: January 4 (Sunday).
Spring Festival or Lunar New Year 春节: February 15 – February 23. Adjusted workdays: February 14 (Saturday) and February 28 (Saturday).
Tomb Sweeping Festival 清明节: April 4 – 6.
Labor Day 劳动节: May 1 – 5. Adjusted workday: May 9 (Saturday).
Dragon Boat Festival 端午节: June 19 – 21.
Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋节: September 25 – 29.
National Day Holiday 国庆节: October 1 – 7. Adjusted workdays: September 20 (Sunday) and October 10 (Saturday).

Payment for the Overtime Work on Public Holidays
Payment for the overtime work during holidays varies based on the type of rest days and the adopted work hour system:
- Under the standard work hour system 标准工时制, working on an official public holiday warrants compensation at a rate not less than 300 percent of the normal wage.
- Under the comprehensive work hour system 综合工作时制, performing work on public holidays necessitates a payment of not less than 300 percent of the normal wage.
- Under the non-fixed work hour system 不定时工作制, a payment of no less than 300 percent of the normal wage is mandated for work on public holidays. It is important to note that region-specific differences exist.
